Kiev becomes the largest business and tourist center in Eastern Europe.

According to the first discussions main changes start soon with development of city infrastructure, turning it into a major business centers in Eastern Europe (sort of comfortable place where people meeting and the most important financial flows from Russia and from Europe are crossing) and with tourist attraction.

Program of Development will be finished to the end of May, special to The Kiev Day celebration. Funding for the project is provided by the management of the Fund for the effective management of Rinat Akhmetov, and the program will be written by The Boston Consulting Group (previously it was similar strategy for St. Petersburg, Budapest and New York) in conjunction with Kyiv City State Administration and social council which includes the capital officials, experts, journalists and businessmen.

With a spring starting the Council met for its first meeting. First the consultants from The Boston Consulting Group said that Kiev has a huge potential for growth, but it is now almost never used, as confirmed by low rankings in international city rankings. Everyone was invited to consider how this situation can be corrected. The discussion of this question is scheduled for April, but the first ideas were reduced approximately to the next.

First of all, Kiev should use its position as a "mediator" between Russia and Europe. "Now a lot of international conferences are held in Ukraine. Both Russians and Europeans can visit Ukraine without visas. But to become a really an attractive place we need a business-friendly environment "- says Vladimir Lavrenchuk, chairman of the Raiffeisen Bank Aval.

The second point - tourism. It is a fact that Kiev has a great potential here (from its islands and green spaces to its status of "mother of Russian cities"). But we need to refine a lot. In particular, we need the events that have made the capital of Ukraine noticeable in the world’s tourist market. Including event and cultural tourism. "I do not really believe that we can develop a production or research. But to make the city famous by means of major events is possible and quite easy "- says Vlad Troitsky, the organizer of" GogolFest.

The third point - is the solution to the infrastructure problems which are already unable to cope with "capital” function of Kiev. "Engineering and transport infrastructure," - said the chief architect Sergei Tselovalnik.
